French sports daily L'Equipe reports that next year's race will start in Buenos Aires and take in 6,000 kilometresof special stages before finishing back in the Argentinian capital. 

The organisers Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) will confirm the route for the 2009 race in Buenos Aires later today.

The 2008 rally was cancelled in January after ASO revealed that "direct threats" had been levelled at the race by terrorist organisations.
