Motors TV - April Highlights

Channel 413 on Sky Digital and 545 on Virgin Media

MX2 MOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP LIVE AND EXCLUSIVE!A new worldwide discipline has been added to the Motors TV line up this year: Motocross. This is great news for both the championship and viewers, who will get to watch a prestigious and International series throughout the year. Organised by the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme), the greatest motocross riders will compete against each other on some of the most difficult circuits. This is the championship in which, Belgian rider Stefan Everts has dominated in the past with 10 world titles and 101 GP wins before his retirement in 2006.

The 15 rounds of the MX championship will enjoy superb coverage on Motors TV with two different shows:- On GP Sundays, the two MX2 races (125cc two-stroke and 250cc four-stroke engined-bikes) will be shown live and exclusive on the ‘High Speed Television’ channel.- On the Tuesday following the GP, the two MX1 races (250cc two-stroke and 450cc four-stroke engined-bikes) will be shown delayed-as-live just 48 hours after the event.

With Sundays ’live and Tuesdays’ delayed broadcast, Motors TV reaches a total of four hours exclusively dedicated to the MX World championship!

Five European races are planned, the first two being in April. Barcelona and Monza will see the beginnings of the titanic battle between Audi and Peugeot that should last the whole season. The 908 against the R10: a battle of diesel and speed, the fight between two huge manufacturers, this is the dual endurance fans have been waiting for! On the drivers’ side, the leading pairs will no doubt be Stéphane Sarrazin-Pedro Lamy and Nicolas Minassian-Marc Gené (Peugeot), Allan McNish-Rinaldo Capello and Alexandre Prémat-Mike Rockenfeller (Audi). It’s going to be great!

However don’t rule out the petrol engined Pescarolo, Oreca-Courage (with endurance racing new boy, Olivier Panis) and Lola-Aston Martin. In the GT classes, the list is equally attractive with Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Saleen and Spyker.

Motors TV will have live action from every round.

April will also see the return of two street races, in St Petersburg (Florida) and Long Beach (California). Two meetings that should offer a great fight between the Team Penske Porsche RS Spyder of reigning champ Romain Dumas and Acuras (Honda) in P2, against the Audi R10 diesel – subject to last minute changes – in P1. In short, this great confrontation is bound to be spectacular on the streets of these two cities.

These two ALMS races will be shown on Motors TV exclusively, delayed-as-live on Sunday evenings.

After weeks of speculation, Ralf Schumacher, who left Formula 1 after 11 years, 180 grands prix and 6 wins, has been announced as a Mercedes driver.

The German will team up with drivers such as Bruno Spengler, Bernd Schneider, Paul di Resta, Gary Paffett and Jamie Green. Facing them is the Audi armada and old hands like 2007 champion Mattias Ekstrom, Tom Kristensen, Martin Tomczyk, and Alexandre Prémat. The French driver, who was Lewis Hamilton’s team-mate in GP2 two seasons ago and will also compete in Audi’s colours in the 2008 endurance season, is among the title favourites this year.

Motors TV will show the whole championship live (programmes begin 15 minutes before the start of each race and end after the podium ceremony).
