Lola to celebrate 50 golden years in motorsport at Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting The Lola Group today announce their support for the historic HSCC Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting on August 23/24/25. A paddock showcasing a variety of Lola racing cars from the company’s inception in 1958 to the present day will be on view and on track at the leafy Cheshire circuit, where a Lola trophy will be presented to commemorate the Golden anniversary of the UK’s most prolific, versatile and successful racing car constructor. Lola will also set to announce a guest of honour to attend the Gold Cup meeting to perform ambassadorial duties and to parade one of the fleet of Lola’s throughout the weekend. 2008 will see plenty of celebrations both on and off the track, as Lola reach a memorable 50 years in motorsport. During this period the Huntingdon based marque have manufactured almost 4000 competitive cars, recording more race and championship wins than any other racing car manufacturer in the world. With Lola’s future firmly cemented under the current ownership of Executive Chairman Martin Birrane, the company stands proud as the UK’s longest-established manufacturer of racing cars, with many legends of motor sport having competed behind the wheel of a Lola, including Mario Andretti, Graham Hill, Nigel Mansell, Sir Jackie Stewart, John Surtees and Al Unser Senior.
