Sydneysiders Storm Eastern Creek

for local V8 Ute dominance

Round Two of the Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series kicks off at Eastern Creek in Sydney tomorrow with Ex NRL Roosters player Jack Elsegood keen to mark his mark on the 2008 title fight.

After missing out on a podium place at the Clipsal 500 only two weeks ago Elsegood’s round ended in turmoil when he was caught up in the major 5 car crash in Adelaide.

The Ford BF Falcon XR8 has been repaired in time and Elsegood is hoping that the home track advantage will make it easy for him to regain the ten point difference to reigning champion Grant Johnson who is currently leading the 08 Series on 61 points.

“I didn’t get a chance to test the car between the final round last year at Phillip Island and the first round this year at Clipsal which meant we had a few bugs to iron out, unfortunately putting me further back in the field and unable to challenge Grant” explained the former Cleo Bachelor of the Year Finalist “but I am confident we have everything sorted to be on the pace this weekend.”

Another talent hoping to be at the pointy end of the field alongside the green machine Coopers Pale Ale Racing Ford of Elsegood is Layton Crambrook. The Darwinian who is currently residing in Sydney finished second for Round One at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide only two weeks ago and is sure to put in another stellar effort at Eastern Creek this weekend.

Crambrook in the Lamont Constructions Racing Ford BF is currently second in the Series standings on 59 points whilst Gary MacDonald, Craig Dontas and George Miedecke are all tied for third overall on 57 points.

Almost half the category is made up of Sydney stars with Andrew Fisher, Yanis Derums, Steve Hodges, Ben Kavich, Scott Jennings, Nandi Kiss, Ben Dunn, Warren Millett and George Elliot all locals lining up on the grid tomorrow to begin the round with the first practice session taking place at 9:00am. The second practice on Friday March 7 follows shortly after at 11:20am. Saturday March 8 will see Qualifying at 10:30am and Race One at 2:25pm.  Whilst Sunday March 9 plays host to the top sixteen reverse grid race two at 9:45am with the third and final race at 2pm.
