DRIVING days are set to get even better at Rockingham with the arrival of the thrilling V8 Supercars to the Northamptonshire circuit in May.
Fresh from supporting the 2008 Gulf Air Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix, the pedigree racing car is guaranteed to enhance the corporate driving packages at Rockingham.
An exciting addition to the Rockingham fleet, the cars will feature on the Rockingham Masterclass and TrackPro days. Guests will be strapped into the driving seat for the experience of a lifetime on the 1.7 mile National Circuit.
Manufactured by General Motors in Australia, the Supercars are Chevrolet Lumina SS V8s are fully race prepared, rear-wheel drive machines, with 5.7 litre engines and a whopping 380bhp.
The high-performance Supercars are capable of reaching 170mph and with full roll cages, racing seats and harnesses fitted as standard, the V8s provide everything you would expect from a racing thorough bred.
Charlotte Orton, Director of Sales & Marketing at Rockingham, said: “The V8 Supercars will add an extra dimension to our corporate driving days, as there is nowhere else you can get behind the wheel of a real racing car.
“Just like the British Touring Cars, these vehicles are based on a road car, which means drivers of all driving abilities can experience the full racing car experience and still feel in control.
“The Supercars will be great to drive on our National Circuit, which has got everything, from long straights to technical corners and tight hairpins.”
The V8 Supercars have a reputation as great racing cars after being on the supporting bill of every major race event in the Gulf in 2007, including the A1GP in Dubai, the 24-hour Race of Bahrain, the Grand Prix Masters in Qatar and the Gulf Air Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix.
The cars will be imported to Rockingham from Bahrain International Circuit in May after competing in the Lumina CSV Middle East race series, the Gulf region’s equivalent to the British Touring Car Championship.
