The focus will be on Fords at Crail

The focus will be on Fords this weekend, as thousands of visitors will be making their way to Crail Raceway in a bid to make it onto the pages of specialist car magazine, Performance Ford, which heads to Scotland this Sunday (16th March).

Although attention will be primarily on Fords, all vehicles are welcome and activities included at regular Crail Airfield ‘Thrash’ events will run as usual.  All cars will be allowed on the ¼ mile strip, however, there will be special Ford only classes.  From classics to modern and modified, there will be over 15 prizes incorporating front wheel drive, rear wheel drive and 4 wheel drive, which will be featured in the magazine.

Nick Thomas, Deputy Editor of Performance Ford comments: “Our annual pilgrimage to Crail Raceway is one we always look forward to. The people, the atmosphere and of course the cars always make the long trip worthwhile, and this year is set to be bigger and better than ever. We hope to see you there.”

The ¼ mile remains the ultimate prize of the day, but the sprint track – where drivers are required to complete a circuit, followed by a figure of eight round the extended drifting oval – always proves popular on specialist Ford events. The search for Scotland’s best ‘Show & Shine’ vehicles will continue as part of the day’s line-up.

As well as the run what you brung action on the ¼ mile drag strip, which takes place on the mile long runways of the 350 acre, WWII air base, there will be a number of static shows, stalls and trade stands.

The only requirement to take part at Crail is a valid UK driving licence and a £15 signing-on fee, which entitles participants to unlimited runs and the new drift/sprint track. At the end of the day personal performance print-outs showing reaction times to the start lights, 60', 1/4 mile times, and top speed will be given out – personal times can also be easily accessed through crailraceway.co.uk

Gates open 9.00 am strip at 9.30am. The drag strip will remain open till 4.30pm. Adults £10:00, children £5:00
