Jordan stars in major BTCC test

Andrew Jordan was one of the stars of the major pre-season test session ahead of the 2008 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship when all of the leading teams ran at Rockingham yesterday (12 March) during the championship media day.Andrew was right on the leading pace of the championship big hitters and ended the day with the fifth fastest time, although he was third fastest for much of the session. The only front-wheel drive car to lap faster than Andrew's John Guest Honda Integra was the Vauxhall Vectra of reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi."It was a brilliant day," said 18-year old Andrew from Team Eurotech. "We approached it methodically and we had several things we wanted to try on the car. We worked through those and spent time on the data. That's a really good start!"Andrew only had one run on new tyres, while many of his rivals had more than one fresh set of tyres. For much of the afternoon Andrew was P3 behind the BMWs of Colin Turkington and Stephen Jelley. "The BMWs are certainly proving to be quick at Rockingham," said Jordan. While Andrew was making the headlines, his father Mike was busy for much of the team handling TV and media work and didn’t get to do a qualifying-style run on new tyres. He ended the day an unrepresentative 12th, although early in the session the John Guest cars were fifth and sixth fastest."The whole team is delighted with Andrew's performance," said Mike. "Everyone has worked hard through the winter and this is a great achievement. He was very switched on for this important test; it’s the only time the BTCCC cars will run together before the opening races of the season."
