Jordan father and son.....

ready to make BTCC historyMike and Andrew Jordan are poised to make history in the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship when they become the first father and son team to race in the championship, starting at Brands Hatch on 29/30 March.Mike (50) and Andrew (18) will team up in a pair of Honda Integras from John Guest Racing and recent testing form suggests that they will feature prominently in a superb field of BTCC racers for the opening three races of the season.Ahead of his BTCC debut, Andrew has been setting some sensational times and was in the top seven at both Rockingham and Brands Hatch recently as the BTCC teams tested together. However, he knows that racing life in the BTCC can be very tough and he is realistic about his expectations for the Brands."It would be fantastic to get into the top 10 at Brands," said Andrew. "It's important not to let my expectations run away with me and I don't want to get too ahead of myself. This is a learning year and I've got to build up. In what I've done so far I've shown that I can race quite well, but that's totally different to touring cars. It’s going to be quite a culture shock at the first race. Once the first race at Brands is out of the way and I've seen how it is, I think I'll be able to relax a bit. I just want to enjoy the whole experience."Going into his third season in the BTCC, Mike is determined to be a front-runner but knows that the BTC-specification Integra will be hard pushed to match the latest generation of Super 2000 cars. "If we can match the overall performance level we had last year of qualifying just behind the works teams on occasion, that would be perfectly acceptable. Those guys have got proper budgets and they are doing a great job."Mike also recognises that the BTCC grid has developed greater strength in depth this season. "At Brands last year six-tenths covered the first 10 cars. This year I think you could easily have six-tenths covering 15 cars. I think there will be more quick cars right where we are now on the grid."He also acknowledges that he faces opposition from within the team. "If I'm still capable of qualifying in the top 10, I think Andrew will do that quite quickly. I think he'll out-qualify me and it wouldn’t surprise me if he out-qualifies me at Brands. We'll help each other in qualifying, and he'll probably get more out of that than me."After qualifying at Brands Hatch on Saturday, the first of three BTCC races will start at 11.30am on Sunday. All of the action will be screened live on ITV4, with a programme running from 12.30pm to 5.30pm, with live coverage of the second and third races of the day.
