Dodds team up for Masters season

Father and son team Graeme and James Dodd are planning to compete regularly with the Masters Racing Series this season in two very different cars.

The Oxford family team plans to campaign its Jaguar XK120 in the XK Challenge, which runs within the Masters Cloth Cap Series, while the Dodds will also race their Ford Mustang in Top Hat races. Dodd senior has a successful record in historic racing, including victories in the BRDC Historic Sportscar Championship, XK Challenge and Top Hat Saloons.

"We've won two championships with the XK120, so we're getting it back out to race with Masters," said Dodd senior. "We decided to race with Masters as there will be longer races and the two-driver option, and so the great thing is that we can share the car." James has yet to race the XK120, although he has tested it. "It feels like a boat to drive," he joked.

Graeme reckons that in a wet race the XK could spring a few surprises. "It does go well in the wet and I can't wait for a wet Cloth Cap race."

Being able to run the Mustang at the same events is good news, and they will campaign both cars in the Masters Top Hat race meeting at Snetterton on Saturday 29 March.

As well as the XK120 and the Ford Mustang, the Dodds also plan to share a third car from their stable by taking in some two-driver races in the BRDC Historic Sports Car Series in their Cooper Monaco.
