Moore of the same in the Ginetta Junior

Sarah Moore remains at the head of the Ginetta Junior Championship with Henderson Insurance as the championship heads to Croft, North Yorkshire, this weekend, June 13/14.

It’s not just policemen that are getting younger: it’s happening to racing drivers, too. The Ginetta Junior Championship with Henderson Insurance is the ultimate motor racing classroom, teaching drivers from 14 to 17 years of age all about motor racing.

The entry boasts a number of karting graduates, some fresh to motor racing and some with a season of Ginetta racing under their belts. The mix has been an explosive one, with four different winners, four different pole position-setters and four drivers sharing the races’ fastest laps amongst them. And at the head of the championship standings comes the remarkably quick Sarah Moore who is rapidly proving that her win at Thruxton was no fluke. She backed up her Saturday success with a victory a day later, then won at Donington and shone at Oulton Park, too, by carving her way from 15th to third by the end of a drama-filled eight-lapper.

Sarah, in her second season in the cars, is the driver to beat at present, but Aaron Williamson is proving capable of doing just that having taken a win at Donington and a shortened race at Oulton Park fell his way, too. Jake Cook took two wins at Brands Hatch at the start of the season but has struggled a little since then and was in the wars at Oulton, colliding with Carl Stirling on the final lap of race one for which he was penalised, Alex Austin escaped the carnage at Oulton to win the first race in his Koala-backed car, whilst karting star Carl Stirling had two impressive drives in Cheshire, too. He led race one until he was Cooked on the last lap, the damage to his car after Jake’s ambitious effort leaving him a retirement, but he bagged second place a day later. He will be one to watch this weekend.

Pippa Coleman impressed at Oulton Park, grabbing the lead early in the first race until she spun out of Cascades and was heart-broken afterwards to have lost a potential win. Her car didn’t make it out for race two in Cheshire so she will be looking to turn her season around at Croft, whilst Jake Hill is looking for his maiden win – and he’s getting bored by being reminded about it. Jake has been at the front in every race this season (and taken three pole positions as well) but got caught up in incidents early season. At Oulton Park, though, it was his car that let him down and having run smoothly near the front, he was mighty annoyed when he ground to a halt. It’s only a matter of time before that first win comes.

For some of the best racing in the UK, look no further than the Ginetta Junior Championship with Henderson Insurance – with a host of quick drivers all capable of running at the front, expect fireworks.

Qualifying for the Ginetta Junior Championship takes place on Saturday June 13 at 10:50 with race one that afternoon at 16:00. Race two will be held on Sunday June 14 at 15:55.
