WRC receives Marco V treatment !

The theme tune to the FIA World Rally Championship’s television coverage has been transformed into a clubland floor filler by world renowned DJ and producer Marco V.

Marco, who hails from the Netherlands, has remixed the original tune into a seven minute techno classic, which features on his newly released third studio album, Propaganda.

The single ‘WRC Theme’ will go on sale in the last week of August, and fans can hear an exclusive excerpt currently on wrc.com.

Marco will be performing the ‘WRC Theme’ during his appearance this weekend at NEO, Helsinki, which will be in front of specially produced WRC footage on giant screens for the thousands in attendance.

Marco V said: “I was extremely honoured to be asked by the WRC, and it’s funny to think of my music being heard by so many people around the world. I always like to do things that are a bit out of the ordinary, so I was really into this project. Taking your mind out of the normal frameset that you’re used to - dark clubs, music that will get crowds going and instead putting your head inside the rally world, where it’s all about fast cars, speed, judgement, dirt tracks and adrenaline. It was great fun to explore all that and translate it into music.

“I like motorsport and the WRC is my favourite. There is so much action in the sport and it’s definitely got that element to it that gives it an edge over a lot of other sports. It’s great fun to watch, you can really get into it and it keeps me on the edge of my seat, especially when they’re throwing themselves around the corners. The speed and action inspired my remix and I tried to put as much energy into the song.”

Simon Long, ISC CEO, added: “We’re delighted that Marco has joined the WRC ranks. He’s a world renowned name in his industry and we’re excited about the opportunities that music provides to entertain the WRC fans, and also expand our supporter base into new areas. Music and driving have natural synergies and we’re exploring the cross promotional opportunities that this provides. Hopefully this is the first of several announcements and initiatives that we can introduce via music into the WRC.”
