British GP Supercup chance
Three drivers from the Porsche Carrera Cup GB will race at the British Grand Prix meeting at Silverstone next weekend (20/21 June) as invited racers in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup race.
Carrera Cup GB title contenders Tim Harvey and James Sutton will race with Red Line Racing, while Aaron Scott will drive the car of Tommy Dreelan for Celtic Speed. All three cars will be entered under the wing of Porsche Cars GB in the British round of the international series.
Harvey and Sutton, both former Carrera Cup champions, have contested the race before, but it is a new venture for Scott.
"This is the third time in a row I've done the Supercup race at Silverstone," said Sutton. "It is always such a big occasion and it always seems to help me raise my game. You're better equipped for the Carrera Cup after doing a Supercup race. There is a real art to racing in the Supercup and it is certainly something I'm looking towards for the future." SAS International will back Sutton's car.
Harvey, meanwhile, will enjoy support from Nationwide Crash Repairs, Interactive Worldwide, Loctite, RMA and Hi-Tech. "It's great to race at Silverstone in front of the home crowd and the BRDC," said Harvey. "It could be the last Grand Prix at Silverstone for a while, so I just hope we have a glorious weekend."
"This is a great opportunity for me to step up to the Porsche Supercup," said Scott. "I'd like to thank Porsche Cars GB, Tommy Dreelan and Celtic Speed for making it possible. It will be a steep learning curve, but I'm looking forward to racing at Silverstone, as it's a circuit I really like."
The Porsche Mobil1 Supercup race will run on Sunday morning ahead of the British Grand Prix. Among the favourites for victory in the race are former Carrera Cup GB champions Richard Westbrook and Damien Faulkner.
