The JapShow
The ever-popular, crowd-drawing JapShow is back on Sunday, 21st June at Santa Pod Raceway.
Dragstrip sponsor, Turbo Dynamics (TD) will have a presence at the event with two gorgeous ‘TD Girls’ who will be dressed in their infamous blue and write TD crop tops and trousers. The girls will be handing out TD goodie bags and available for photos. Accompanying the girls will be three TD employees who will be on-hand during the event to answer spectators’ technical questions about turbochargers and performance accessories etc.
TD has received a lot of acclaim in the world of Japanese cars of late thanks to the company’s two recent creations: the twin entry turbo and MD555 turbo for use on Subaru Imprezas. The MD555 has in fact been dubbed ‘The Ultimate Subaru Turbo’! These turbos, and more, will be listed on information sheets within the TD goodie bags.
As well as TD’s presence at the event, the JapShow will include a test day (taking place the Saturday before), the usual ‘Run What Ya Brung’ competitions, drift demos and the HKS Drag Series, which will showcase some of Europe’s fastest cars. Not stopping there, the event also includes Club Displays, a Show Car Paddock, Handling Challenges, a Mobile Dyno, Fun Fair and the Auto Trader: Cars for Sale Paddock.
One of the biggest crowd-pleasers of the day, however, will undoubtedly be Santa Pod Raceway’s famous Jet Car. Driven at full-throttle by Martin Hill, the car will amaze spectators as it travels down the dragstrip at over 270 MPH.
Yet another popular aspect to this year’s event will be the stunt displays where none other than Terry Grant himself will be behind the wheel of some popular Japanese cars. Grant, who has multiple world records to his name, will be performing manoeuvres such as, driving through parked caravans, spinning cars around bikini-clad girls, driving with one foot and even driving two cars single-handedly!
Catering for all needs, TD-sponsored Santa Pod Raceway has its own campsite allowing drivers and spectators alike to make a full weekend of it.
