SBD Motorsport MSA British Sprint Championship

Rounds 5 & 6: Anglesey Racing Circuit, 13/14 June

In two of the hottest events of the year so far Nick Algar managed to score back-to-back wins. On Saturday Algar took victory on the International circuit despite the high-speed misfire that had plagued him at Pembrey. Then on Sunday, after some long hours of graft by his team, the NME engine in the Gould was finally firing on all eight and he totally dominated the two lap event on the National circuit.

Ross Napier took the Gould he shares with father Roy to two second places - his best results to date - even though the set of slicks were "melting". Terry Holmes was delighted with his third place on Saturday after the Lola spent the week being repaired at Goulds after his Pembrey shunt however Holmes & co-driver Graham Porrett were sidelined on Sunday when the clutch failed.

The top 2-litre car was that of Welshman Mark Smith who netted a fifth and a fourth place to climb into the overall championship lead. Steve Broughton just failed to beat Smith in each of the run offs and slipped back to second in the championship. Glyn Sketchley's pace in the 1500cc Force was impressive and despite a spin on Saturday he still beat several of the V8s whilst on Sunday he was in blistering form taking a stunning fifth place.
