Something strange at Brooklands…

1959 Cadillac ‘Ghostbusters Ambulance’ helps trace the ghost of Perry Lambert!

On Thursday 11 June, renowned medium Ian Lawman, who has previously featured in TV shows Most Haunted , I’m Famous and Frightened and Living with the Dead, was on hand at the historic Brooklands race track in Surrey to search for ghosts, at the official launch of Ghostbusters: The Video Game for PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) and PlayStation®2. The game will be released by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) on 19 June, 2009.

As legend has it, phantom driver Percy Lambert, who tragically died on 21 October, 1913, is often seen at Brooklands. Sounds of Percy hurtling around the track in his race car and sightings of his headless body are commonly reported around the site.

Gerald Ramshaw, a volunteer guide at the Brooklands Museum, offered plenty of historical insights into the story of Percy and other reported ghosts, to attending guests. Joining the ghostbusting search was the converted 1959 Cadillac ‘Ghostbusters Ambulance’, a replica of the legendary Ecto-1 from the Ghostbusters film.

Brooklands is known as the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation. It is also the site of the worlds first purpose-built motor circuit that operated from 1907 – 1939.

Those in attendance at the Brooklands event were definitely not alone, as Ian picked up plenty of ‘otherworld’ activity around the place!

“I could definitely feel the presence of Percy Lambert on the Members Banking part of the track, which is where he was reported to have died”, explained the medium.

“Having never been to Brooklands before, but knowing its colourful history of ghost sightings, I had anticipated some strong feelings and was not disappointed. The presence of the spirit world is very much alive and well here at Brooklands!”

“Even when I sat in the Ecto-1 vehicle, I had very strong visions of a funeral procession, and found out in its previous life, the 1959 Cadillac had been a hearse!”

To mark the 25th anniversary of the well-loved franchise, 19 June will see the launch of Ghostbusters: The Video Game exclusively for PS3 and PlayStation 2 in Europe and PAL regions, in coordination with the Blu-ray™ release of the original hit movie.

In Ghostbusters: The Video Game, players can grab a proton pack and turn their ghostbusting fantasies into reality as the new recruit to the Ghostbusters team. The story is set two years after the Ghostbusters 2 movie. Once again, the city of Manhattan has been overrun with ghouls, ghosts and all things foul – and it’s down to the Ghostbusters team to capture them all and regain control.

The game has been written by original Ghostbusters writers Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd and reunites members of the original cast for the first time in 20 years.   Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson lend their voices and in-game likenesses to the game, which also features performances from favourites including William Atherton (Walter Peck), Annie Potts (Janine) and Brian Doyle-Murray (Mayor Jock Mulligan).

Developed by Terminal Reality and Red Fly Studios Ghostbusters: The Video Game will arrive on PS3 and PS2 this June. RRP £49.99 for the PS3 version and RRP £24.99 for PS2. PSP version of the game is scheduled for launch in autumn 2009. To find out more, visit eu.playstation.com.
