MCL Motorhomes MSA British Hillclimb Championship - Rounds 15 & 16; Doune; June 20th/21st
The hill record fell in both run-offs as Martin Groves and Scott Moran continued their season long battle at Doune. Round 15 went to Groves with the hill record for the bonus point but in round 16 Scott Moran took the win and a further 0.23 seconds out of the hill record in a sensational run. Each finished second in the rounds they did not win and both came away with twenty points, with Moran maintaining his five point series lead.
Nobody else had a chance against the battling duo and in a massive coincidence the third to eighth positions were identical in each round. Trevor Willis battled his power disadvantage for third, moving up to series third and Roger Moran filled fourth place moving up to championship fourth ahead of Paul Ranson. Tom New moved to series seventh again finishing ahead of his co-driver Chris Merrick with Paul Haimes once more the top driver from the smaller capacity class divisions as he moved to ninth in the table.
