Silverstone Holdings Limited (SHL) the business which manages the Silverstone Circuit and Estate, is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Williams and Stephen Morris as Non-Executive Directors with immediate effect.
The British Racing Drivers’ Club, as the sole shareholder of SHL, has committed to building a strong and independent board to control and manage Silverstone.
This is part of a plan to build a world-leading motor racing and leisure facility, as well as making Silverstone a focal point for high technology engineering in Britain. Neil England, Chairman of Silverstone Holdings Limited, said, “I am delighted to welcome Peter and Stephen to our team at Silverstone. We have an ambitious growth plan involving significant investment into a newly diversified business. They both have excellent track records in creating profitable growth and a wealth of relevant business experience”.
A former Accenture management consultant, Peter Williams held a number of Chief Financial Officer roles before becoming Chief Executive of Selfridges plc in 2002. In 2006 he became Chief Executive of airport retail and catering company Alpha Group. Williams is currently the Interim Chief Executive of high street retailer JJB Sports.
His appointment by Silverstone Holdings adds to Non-Executive Director roles at Cineworld and online fashion retailer ASOS plc. He was previously a Non-Executive Director at Capital Radio and GCap Media. Stephen Morris has a wealth of experience in the worlds of advertising and marketing. Following a successful sales and marketing career with Unilever, Morris became best known as the founder of the Haygarth Group, an integrated marketing agency.
Having sold the group in 2001 he re-purchased it in 2005 and remains Non-Executive Chairman. Morris has founded a number of other successful marketing services companies. He is currently Non-Executive Chairman of four other businesses: Executive search and recruitment company Stamford Consulting Group; media and technology innovator Icom Ventures; mineral extraction company Rodfur Investments; and GX Laboratory holdings, a Bio-science company
