IN WRC PEDALO RACE
Citroen Total World Rally Team driver, Dani Sordo, and co-driver Marc Marti, won the first ‘unofficial stage’ at Rally Poland by taking the spoils in a pedalo race in Mikolajki against their fellow World Rally Championship drivers.
Mikolajki, the host town for Rally Poland, is known as the Lake District of Poland, so six WRC crews took to the water led by drivers Sordo, Henning Solberg, Jari-Matti Latvala, Conrad Rautenbach, Sebastien Ogier and Matthew Wilson.
With only bragging rights at stake it was the Spaniard who prevailed, followed by Stobart VK M-Sport Ford’s Henning Solberg and co-driver Cato Menkerud in second place.
Simon Long, CEO of Championshio promoters ISC, said: “We truly believe that the WRC has the greatest drivers in the world, and want to continue to raise the profile of our stars which activities like this help to do. Our aim is to show their personality and create local heroes for the millions of fans that follow the Championship. Even with a race like the one today you can see the competitive streak in the guys and we’re grateful they took the time out of their schedules to get involved.”
