Masters adds innovation ..

to extra Donington raceday

Masters Historic Racing has announced an extra race date for this summer, with a one-day event planned for Donington Park on Sunday August 23, which will include some new initiatives for the leading promoter of historic racing.

Masters’ Series Director Christopher Tate said: “With this being the last season of racing on Donington’s present track layout, there has been a high demand for another chance to race the best historic sports, saloons and GT cars on the much-loved existing circuit layout.”

The event will feature an experimental “Interserie Revival” race for the types of cars raced in that early 1970s series, alongside the other slick-tyred sports prototypes of 2 and 3-litres. Masters regular racer and well-known preparer, Richard Dodkins is putting together a complete class of the Interserie/CanAm cars, for a special one-off invitation race.

The WSM race will include a special Lola Challenge Trophy, for invited WSM and SRM specification Lolas, whilst the Saloon cars will have two separate 45 minute races with a pit stop, combining the Under 2 litre Pre-66 cars with the Oldies but Goldies on one grid; and then the Over 2 litre cars with other invited saloons, will form the second race

Masters is providing a busy one-day programme with morning qualifying sessions, followed by an afternoon of action organised by Masters Racing Club.
