Matech GT at the 24hrs of Spa
with two Ford GT3 cars Matech GT Racing Team will be participating at the 24 Hours of Spa with two Ford GT3 race cars this year"Although the 24H of Spa is not part of the FIA GT3 European Championship, it is the most prestigious GT race on the calendar and provides an excellent test opportunity for the Ford GT3. That’s why we have decided to be there with two race cars” – emphasized Martin Bartek, Team Principal and Owner."There will be a Ford GT1 at Spa as well, which will be run by the Marc VDS Racing Team” – added Martin Bartek. "As 2009 is the development year for the Ford GT1, with the aim of participating in the 2010 FIA GT World Championship, we will provide technical assistance to the Belgian team at Spa”.Ford GT3 cars have recently clinched two pole positions at various endurance races in Germany. A Matech customer team running a Ford GT3 surprised everybody at the 24H Nürburgring race back in May by securing the pole position and showing a very strong performance for 13 hours before a minor defect forced the car to abandon whilst holding the fifth overall position. At last weekend’s ADAC Reinoldus-Langstreckenrennen endurance race a Ford GT3 finished fourth after starting from pole position and setting the fastest lap in the race."I think these good results are very encouraging and a testimony of the Ford GT3 endurance qualities, so we look forward to an exciting race at Spa” – outlined Martin Bartek.
