ART aim to stay on top in Beijing

The Asia Racing Team (ART Motorsports) heads to Beijing for round two of the AFR Championship ontop of the points standings and looking forward to racing again in Goldenport Circuit.

After just two races of the 2009 season it is already apparent that racing fans can look forward toanother close-fought championship battle, with several surprises along the way. Angola’s Luis SaSilva, France’s Benjamin Rouget and Hong Kong’s Luca Ferigutti will be behind the wheel of the ARTMotorsports’ Formula Renault 2.0 cars on the 18th and 19th of July.

The 18 years-old from Angola has been competing in Europe, and arrives to Beijing willing to scorehis first victory of the season. Rouget will return to the driving seat of a ART car, following two superbperformances in the races at the season opening event in Shanghai, and one day testing in Zhuhai.The Hong Kong karting ace Ferigutti had a disappointing season start but the Swiss born is lookingforward to prove in single seaters why he got such a high reputation in Asian karting.

Located in Chaoyang District, the Goldenport Circuit offers drivers an exciting mix of terrain thatincludes short straights and an undulating infield section.

Team Manager Philippe Descombes is expecting big things from the team this weekend, “For us thechallenge is to maintain the current work rate and intensity because the other teams aresure to be upping theirs. Everyone in the team is really motivated to keep pushing all theway to the chequered flag. It’s very nice to go back to Beijing. We always have been verycompetitive there and I do expect a strong performance. The track is very challenging andbumpy, and you need a good setup since the beginning. Definitely we have a veryinteresting weekend ahead.”

The timetable for the weekend's activities commences with the first Free Practicing sessions onThursday and Friday with qualifying on Saturday getting under way at 15.30. Sunday's race actionbegins with the Race 1 at 11.45 followed by the Race 2 at 14.30.
