SCOTT Nicholls is to return to hometown club Ipswich next week after the conclusion of his short-term deal with Coventry.The Bees' broken leg victim Olly Allen is now fit to return, so Nicholls rejoins the Witches to replace Jarek Hampel, who has quit British speedway. Ipswich boss Pete Simmons said: "The chance to work with such an exciting rider as Scott is something that I am really looking forward to."

IPSWICH have made a second team change by signing Troy Batchelor on loanfrom Swindon in place of Piotr Swiderski.Batchelor lost his place at Blunsdon when he suffered a broken scaphoid and his replacement Matej Zagar proved to be a huge success. Manager Pete Simmons said: "It hasn't happened for Piotr this year and wecouldn't wait any longer. Troy is determined to finish the season in style."

STOKE promoter Dave Tattum fired a warning to his riders after a heavy local derby defeat at Birmingham.The Potters lost second spot in the Premier League to their rivals afte rgoing down 58-34 at Perry Barr, with reserve Richard Sweetman unbeaten for the Brummies.Tattum said: "I'm bitterly disappointed and can only describe the performance as woeful. Several of the riders need to take a long hard lookat themselves."
