RACE 1

Raymond Narac and Patrick Pilet gave the IMSA Performance team its second win in one week, winning against all odds the Pro-Am race of the Donington GT Open. The French pair started from the last position in the grid (the team having lost all of the qualifying times for using non-marked tires) and crossed the finishing line with a 29- seconds advantage over the Autorlando Porsche of Gião-Couceiro. A brilliant third position rewarde the efforts of Giacomo Ricci-Michele Rugolo (Advanced Ferrari). In GTS, Philipp Peter-Michal Broniszewski took their fifth win of the season, ahead of the two Villois Astons of Wiser-Lancieri and Guerrero-Petrini.

At the start, poleman Giacomo Ricci (Advanced Ferrari) took the lead ahead of Roda, Gião, Camathias, Monfardini, Giammaria and Peter. Early laps saw Bamford stopping with some technical problem and Caccia and Petrini spinning, while in the lead the fight between Ricci and Giao was intense, with the Portuguese passing in lap 8, imitated two laps later by Camathias.

Gião led on Camathias, Ricci (all within 3 seconds), Roda, Monfardini, Giammaria and Narac (emerged from the bottom of the grid) until the driver change, with Couceiro keeping things under control. It looked like the Portuguese pair had in its hand its first victory but Pilet was catching up at impressive pace on the IMSA Porsche and when some drops of rain started to fall, the French took the lead (lap 27) and did not lose it anymore.

The emotion was behind, in the fight for third, which saw Rugolo resisting until the end to the attacks of Lietz, Frezza and Fässler. The battle included a contact between Frezza and Fässler (who spun), for which the Italian was later penalized with 30 seconds.

The GTS race was dominated by the Kessel Ferrari of Peter-Broniszewski, but this time they had to fight harder against the Villois Aston of Wiser-Lancieri, with the other Aston finishing third (after the Corvette of Alexander-Julià broke the radiator) and the debuting Apex Jaguar of Jones-Clarke fifth.
