RACE 2
The GT Open race of the Donington GT Open ended with the same winners as on Saturday. Patrick Pilet-Raymond Narac confirmed the excellent form of the IMSA Performance Porsche with a double win. With this third win, the French pair now join the fight for the title, together with Fässler-Camathias (Trottet Ferrari), 2nd, and Lietz-Roda (Autorlando Porsche), 3rd.
In GTS, it was yet another win for Kessel’s Racing Philipp Peter and Michal Broniszewski, clinched in the last lap from the Villois Aston of Guerrero- Petrini, with the other Aston third.
At the start, Pilet is fastest while poleman Lietz loses the initial duel with Fässler. Followed by Belloc, Couceiro, Rugolo, Griffin, Frezza, Bonetti and Guerrero, who leads in the GTS category with the Villois Aston. Caccia spins soon after.
Positions remain pretty much unchanged until the driver change, with Pilet managing to build an advantage that allowed Narac to be first when everybody pitted, ahead of Camathias, Roda, David, Perazzini, Bamford, Monfardini and Ricci. The last two have contact in lap 22, with Monfardini being forced to retire.
Except Perazzini gaining one position and Giao coming up to fourth, there won’t be many changes in positions and gaps, the IMSA Performance squad claiming easily it ssecond success.
In GTS, the Villois Aston of Guerrero-Petrini will manage to keep its initial lead until the last lap, when Philipp Peter manages to overtake Petrini to get another win, with the other Aston finishing third and the Corvette of Julià-Alexander (running on 7cylinders) fourth. The Apex Jaguar did not take the start, following yesterday’s gearbox failure.
