MSA British Kart Championship

Whilton Mill, 4-5 July

Once Rob Foster-Jones hit the front in the first final, after starting mid-grid due to a heat non-finish, Luke Wright was left to fend off Ben Cooper.  The latter had started almost last after two non-finishes, one due to an engine seize, and one from accident damage on the formation lap of one of the heats.  Cooper cleared Wright, then started saving his tyres for the second final.  Wright shrugged off a challenge by Elliot Burton, leaving him to be defeated by both Mark Litchfield and Jordon Lennox-Lamb.  The latter driver started last after deliberately missing his heats to keep his tyres fresh, and to save his only engine.

In the second final, Foster-Jones was in immediate trouble with an ailing engine, leaving Mark Litchfield to fight with first Wright, then with Cooper after he recovered from a bad start.  They exchanged the lead five times before Cooper asserted his superior pace, aided when Wright inserted his kart in between.  Lennox-Lamb wanted into the action, and although Litchfield retrieved second on the last lap, Wright lunged inside of the second last corner for second, with Lennox-Lamb following and an unhappy Litchfield demoted to fourth.
