(SPEEDWAY 1)WOLVERHAMPTON will honour the career of their former rider Gary Peterson when they stage the Midland Open on Monday.Peterson lost his life in a track crash in 1975, and Wolves have put together a field of 16 of the brightest talents racing in the UK.Home stars Tai Woffinden and Nicolai Klindt will be amongst the favourites,and the line-up also includes Lewis Bridger and, if fit, Darcy Ward.

NEWPORT are hopeful that Chris Kerr's move to reserve for the month of August will give them a boost - starting on Sunday against King's Lynn.The Wasps have to cover for the injured Jordan Frampton so Kerr is set totake extra rides.Club spokesman Gareth Rogers said: "Chris has begun to pick up points at reserve for Wolverhampton in the Elite League. This change comes at a ninteresting point."
