Brazilian Bruno Senna qualified his Team ORECA car in third place at the latest Le Mans Series race in Algarve this weekend.
Bruno was pleased with the performance of the car and looked forward to a competitive race. He said: "Our cars will start in first and third; they are fast and sparing on tyres, which is always important in endurance racing. I think we have a solid chance of a podium finish.”
According to his team’s strategy, Bruno is expected to take charge of the first three stints, while his team mate should replace him by mid-race. "That is our plan, but, you know, in motor racing not everything turns out as expected.”
Despite the strong showing in qualifying, Bruno was still left slightly frustrated by traffic. "I was one of the first to get onto the track, with the express intention of avoiding traffic but unfortunately that was not the case. I could only manage to set my best lap towards the end of the session, after eight or nine laps and with the tyres far from perfect.”
The 215 lap race starts at 19:15 local time this evening.
