Britpart MSA British Cross Country Championship

Round 2: 15-16 May Tim Dilworth maintained his winning form in round two of the Britpart MSA British Cross County Championship at the Sweet Lamb complex near Llanurig. Sunshine prevailed for day one, although rainfall shortly before the event left the course slippery in parts. Dilworth got to work immediately aboard his Peugeot 206 STi, setting a time five seconds quicker than defending champion Richard Kershaw on the opening run.Kershaw then retaliated with four fastest times to move into a 15-second lead, only for his charge end in a ditch on on run six. Meanwhile Dilworth continued to set quick times despite anti-lag problems and ended day one with a 36-second lead over Gordon Monaghan’s RS200 replica.Dilworth’s car troubles continued on day two, with exhaust issues leaving his motor down on power. However, the good work of his service crew  allowed him to cross the finish line with his lead intact. "I’m delighted with the win,” he said. “The boys did really well to keep the car going on what was a traumatic event for us."In the Trophy category Richard Wynne-Williams took victory in his Bowler Tomcat, with championship sponsor Paul Myers in second.Results1 Tim Dilworth (Peugeot 206 STi) 1h21m22s2 Stephen Hiatt (Warrior Indy) 1h22m13s3 Gordon Monaghan (Monaghan RS) 1h22m35s4 Martin Gould (Mattserati) 1h23m09s5 Ian Roberts (Rakeway Ridgeback) 1h26m05s6 Dan Lofthouse (Lofthouse Proto LD4) 1h26m33s
