Australia, Highs and lows for Sieders Racing at Winton

With Holden’s dominating the track conditions, the three Ford entries prepared by Sieders Racing had a hard fought weekend to finish right across the Top Ten at Winton Motor Raceway for Round 2 of the Yokohama V8 Ute Series – protected by Armor All.With the team holding positions one and two in the Championship from the season opener, Jesus Racing’s Andrew Fisher lead the Ford charge, with two second placings and second overall for the Round, remaining in second for the Series on 202 points behind Holden’s Grant Johnson on 203.

“Andrew’s continually learning and improving in this Championship,” said Team Manager Luke Sieders, “he’s consistently shown he can be a contender and has held onto that number two spot with some great drives this weekend”.

David Sieders’ Nulon Oil Falcon showed great consistency throughout the weekend by staying within the Top Five, and although the car proved again that it is a real contender, a poor start has pushed the debutant to down two places in the Championship to be third on 198 points.

“I’m happy with the car and how it’s performing,” said David Sieders, “I got a bad start in Race Two and fought back to fifth after falling as far as twelfth, and I lost a few ponies in the last Race so I couldn’t get the drive onto the straights as I would have liked, but a good result overall.”

Despite showing arguably his best form in the series to date, Dunn Motorsport’s Ben Dunn finished 10th for the round after being punted off the track in Race 2, and turned into the wall in Race 3.

“Dunny had great speed out there this weekend, and was unlucky to be caught up in other people’s mess,” said Sieders, “there’s a bit of work to do after today, but it should be right for Darwin”.

The next round of the Yokohama V8 Utes will be held at Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin (NT) on 18th-20th June.“Ultimately coming away from here with two cars still inside the Top Three, and by five points is fantastic,” said Luke Sieders, “hopefully Ben will have better luck at Darwin and can work his way up to the top as well”.
