Pirtek Racing will be looking to shine as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship arrives at the Oulton Park track in Cheshire this weekend. In only their fourth race meeting in the BTCC, Pirtek Racing and driver Andrew Jordan are aiming for podiums after a string of strong points finishes in recent races have seen the Pirtek Racing team moving up the order and emerging as a front running contender.
The Tamworth based team will also be looking to build on the form shown at last week’s official series test session at Rockingham where Jordan set the pace ahead of series leader Jason Plato. Jordan set his fastest time during the morning session, and with further development throughout the day they remained unchallenged as the fastest car on track.
Jordan has shown a consistent pace to date whilst racking up the points in his championship campaign, but admits a podium would be welcome this weekend, “The aim for Oulton is to qualify well and focus on three strong scores in the races. I’m definitely aiming for the top three and after the development we made at the Rockingham test I’m confident we’ll be able to do it.
“I’d say there are a good few cars who could win this weekend and so it is going to be tough. The track will suit the BMWs with its long straights and uphill drags and you can’t discount Jason (Plato) and Matt (Neal) from being at the front. We’re still working hard with the new package of the TOCA Turbo engine and the Vectra but we made huge leaps forward at the test and we’re in the best shape we have been all season.”
The fourth round of the BTCC takes place this weekend at the Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire; watch all the action live on ITV4 on Sunday with the first of three races kicking off at 12:15pm.
