Brand Oman Signs-Up Al Harthy

Muscat-based racing driver Ahmad Al Harthy has been signed-up by the Brand Oman Management Unit (BOMU) to help promote Oman through his sporting campaign in the 2010 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship.

BOMU leads and facilitates the promotion of the Sultanate of Oman as a world class destination where people choose to visit, live and in which companies want to do business and invest. Running in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism’s European campaign, 28-year-old Ahmad will play an important role in helping BOMU raise the sultanate’s profile in the UK and in Continental Europe.

The addition of Brand Oman to his extremely high-profile and prestigious sponsorship portfolio follows recently confirmed agreements with two of the sultanate’s most successful businesses, Oman Air and the National Bank of Oman.

Speaking about his new Brand Oman ambassadorial role, Ahmad said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be involved with Brand Oman. Being able to help promote my country is a true honour. I firmly believe that through my involvement in international motor racing I can help introduce Oman and all that it offers to a wide and diverse audience.

“I’m very fortunate to have such a strong package of support for the 2010 season in Porsche Carrera Cup GB. I’d like to thank BOMU, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Sports Affairs, Oman Air and the National Bank of Oman for their backing, encouragement and endorsement.”

His Highness Sayyid Faisal Al Said, COO, BOMU commented: “On behalf of BOMU, I’d like to thank Ahmad for the work he will be doing to promote the sultanate. Oman is an emerging global holiday destination known for its unique landscape, people and hospitality.

“On the business front, we’ve a skilled, multilingual workforce delivering innovative products and services. We’ve so much to offer the discerning tourist and international investor. Indeed, we’re delighted to be working with Ahmad - he's an outstanding driver and a wonderful brand ambassador for Oman.”

Ahmad will be back on track this weekend, 19th/20th June, at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire for rounds nine and 10 of the 2010 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship. Heading into the event, the Redline Racing driver is fourth in the Pro-Am 1 Class driver standings.
