Celebrating a birthday is often a chance to look back, particularly when a decade has passed, a significant milestone in the middle of the broadcasting jungle!
On its tenth birthday, Motors TV, first launched on 1 September 2000, is available in six languages across 38 European countries to more than 18 million households with an exposure to a potential 50 million viewers.
The ‘High Speed Television’ channel has for a long time been the undisputed benchmark for motorsport fans all over Europe.
With more than 80 categories broadcast on its three signals, Motors TV provides the largest range of motorsport coverage of any audio/visual network.
In ten years every motorsport discipline has been featured with live or delayed coverage or through documentaries and magazine programmes. Live events have been numerous and make up almost a quarter of the channel’s total broadcast output.
The FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), the Le Mans 24 Hours, the FIM Motocross World Championship, World Superbike Championship, Le Touquet Enduropale and the biggest endurance races at Sebring, Daytona and Laguna Seca are or have been screened.
Nearly 1100 hours of original programming will be broadcast across our three signals in 2010.
To celebrate this event, Motors TV is adopting a new logo during the month of September, as well as some specific jingles. In addition, the biggest figures in motorsport will be giving their birthday wishes on the channel.
Jean-Luc ROY, Chief Executive officer and founder of MOTORS TV, believes that one of the most important messages learned during the channel’s first decade is: “It is impossible for an independent channel to grow and develop amongst the largest international organisations unless you have a strong base and a clearly indentified concept. We will continue to work harder, without losing any of our passion, in order to push the limits even further!”
As in competition, records are made to be beaten, especially for the High Speed Television channel.
