SATURDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER
We have just 7 days left until the MiniWorld Action Day, one of our favourite events in the Castle Combe calendar. Last year’s Action Day provided a fitting tribute to the 50th Anniversary year of the Mini with record numbers of traders, visitors and clubs and we did wonder how we would measure up this year.
Very good we are pleased to say. The display area is bulging with over 1,000 cars booked in representing over 90 clubs and almost 40 traders displaying and selling just about anything Mini related.
The Autojumble now has a new home in the Chippenham Road display area and the Mini Boot Sale, allowing private enthusiasts to sell unwanted parts has its own dedicated area at Quarry Corner.
For the visitor this means a continuous display from Camp Corner right through the Paddock display area, through to the Autojumble and further clubs in the Chippenham Road display area, and then, at Quarry a great place to watch some of the driving sessions on the most popular corner at Castle Combe Circuit, the Mini Boot Sale.
Our display of the Mini Van, Countryman and Pick Up, celebrating their 50th Anniversary will see the oldest recorded roadworthy Countryman lining up alongside the latest version being launched tomorrow. The Countryman is currently in the news with the rumours that Kimi Raikkonen may be joining Kris Meeke in Rallying a MINI Countryman in the 2011 World Rally Championships.
As always, the MiniWorld Action Day provides non-stop fun on the track, the opportunity for members of the public to be rushed round courtesy of the Mighty Mini race drivers as they raise money for local good causes and allow enthusiasts to meet fellow drivers.
There is still time to save money, up until Tuesday you can buy an Admission Pass for just £8.00 or a Track Pass for £30.00.
Arrive on the day, Admission is £10.00 and a Track Pass £35.00.
If you want to take the family out in the Mini, then don’t forget that we have a parade at 13.15, purchase your Pass on the day for just £15.00 and Clubs, don’t forget the Mini Cruise at 12.30, where we try and get as many Club cars on the track at one time, with the current record standing at around 250.
