FIM Speedway Protasiewicz set for Bydgoszcz SGP

Polish racer Piotr Protasiewicz will take his place in the FIM Bydgoszcz Grand Prix of Poland on October 9.

The Zielona Gora star qualified for the SGP series as first reserve at the GP Challenge last year. This meant he would be called upon if one of the 15 World Championship regulars missed a round through injury, illness or other reasons.

He was called up for the FIM Dansk Metal Danish SGP in Copenhagen after Russian star Emil Sayfutdinov suffered a broken arm in Prague.

But after failing to score at the PARKEN Stadium and notching five at the next round in Torun, Protasiewicz opted against taking Sayfutdinov’s spot at the British Grand Prix in Cardiff.

His place was taken by Australian national skipper Davey Watt and the Poole rider also covered for the world No.3 at Gorican and Vojens.

The Townsville-born star will race again at the FIM Nice Italian SGP in Terenzano on Saturday night.

But Protasiewicz has opted to take his spot in the final round of 2010, despite claiming his SGP series was over for this year. He will don the No.19 race jacket.
