Public vote decides winning helmet design, which Bruno Senna will wear later this season
The winning entry has been chosen in a special competition to design a helmet for Formula One driver Bruno Senna to wear later this season, in tribute to his Uncle Ayrton, who would have turned 50 this year.
There were over 500 entries from across the world but, after a tight race to the very end, Rai Caldato from Campinas, Brazil, emerged as the winner. Of the five finalists shortlisted by judges including Bruno Senna himself, other members of the Senna family and the designers of Ayrton Senna’s helmets, Rai collected 8,892 votes. Another Brazilian, Bruno Mantovani, was leading until the final stages of voting but eventually finished second on 8,093 votes.
The winner can now look forward to the thrill of seeing Bruno wear his special design; an announcement on when and where Bruno will wear the helmet is expected soon. Rai Caldato will also receive a replica of the helmet, signed by Bruno, together with a signed photo of the driver proudly wearing the design. The special race helmet worn by Bruno will be auctioned as a prize, with all money raised to be donated to the Ayrton Senna Foundation.
