MSA British Drag Racing Championship
Round 5: Santa Pod Raceway, September 25-26Andy Robinson was crowned the MSA British Drag Racing Champion for the third time in four years at Santa Pod Raceway last weekend. The title win salvaged an otherwise cheerless year for Robinson, the low point of which was a high-speed car fire in July as the Hampshire Pro Modified star pursued the FIA European Championship in Finland. Following an emergency rebuild, his Studebaker-bodied machine never quite recaptured the early-season form which served effectively to secure his victory in the British series.Robinson finished ahead of fellow Brits Graham Ellis and Kevin Slyfield in the final standings, topping a list of 29 MSA Championship challengers drawn from across Europe and, for the first time, America: US superstar Melanie Troxel’s two visits netted her seventh place overall.Final Championship positions (provisional) 1 Andy Robinson – 438 points (CHAMPION) 2 Graham Ellis – 3153 Kevin Slyfield – 2824 Johan Lindberg – 194= Adam Flamholc – 1946 Bruno Bader – 129
