ITV renews British Superbikes highlights deal

UK free-to-air network ITV has agreed a deal to broadcast highlights of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship for the next three years.

Following its contract extension with rights holder Motorsport Vision, ITV Sport will produce a one-hour highlights package, featuring grid walks, interviews and behind the scenes segments along with the best of the race action, after each of the twelve rounds of the series. Each programme will be broadcast on ITV4 on Wednesdays and Saturday afternoons following each race, with further repeats on the flagship ITV1 channel, and will also be available on demand via the online ITV Player.ITV controller of sport Niall Sloane said: "I’m delighted that ITV will be the free-to-air home of British Superbikes for the next three years. The series, with its new format continues to provide high quality racing with plenty of drama and thrills. The personalities and skill of the riders ensures compelling viewing throughout the season."Stuart Higgs, the series director of British Superbikes, added: "As the 2010 season reaches its thrilling conclusion it’s great to be able to confirm our long term broadcast plans and that BSB is firmly established within the ITV Sport portfolio."The final round of the 2010 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship will take place at Oulton Park on 9th and 10th October.
