Dani Pedrosa will miss this Sunday’s race at Motegi after fracturing his left collarbone after completing two laps of first practice.
He suffered a triple-segment fracture to his left clavicle.
“When he crashed he suffered a multiple fracture of the left collarbone, and that requires an operation to have the best chance of returning to racing as soon as possible,” explained Michele Macchiagodena, MotoGP Medical Director. “But not for this race, of course.”
"Obviously this has been a really bad day for us," said Pedrosa. "It was a strange crash in only my second full lap, in a slow section of the track. I tried to stop the bike as usual but I knew something was wrong and couldn't avoid going down.
