Team Rosberg claimed its best result of the 2010 ADAC GT Masters season which thus ended on a positive note for the squad. On the day that commemorates the German reunification the team with its two Audi R8 LMS cars scored a total of 14 points and thereby achieved its first podium finish in the ADAC GT Masters this year. On Saturday Kenneth Heyer/Michael Ammermüller (Wegberg/Pocking) started from position eleven on the grid. The team maintained tenth place up to the pit stop. On lap 24 Michael Ammermüller overtook the Dodge of Vulkan Racing, six laps later he passed his team colleague Christopher Haase (Kulmbach) in a remarkable duel. Third place and six points were the reward for this driving feat. "Scheduling the pit stop at such an early time was the right decision – afterwards I was able to fully attack,” said Ammermüller. "I’m really pleased. I didn’t launch any more attacks behind the two championship leaders. That would have been difficult too because Peter Kox’s Lamborghini is so quick on the straight.”Christiaan Frankenhout (the Netherlands) and Haase, who had started from position eight, occupied fifth place. "We gained one position due to our pit stop,” analysed Haase. "I didn’t get involved in the duel fought by Kox and Christopher Mies but then a few teams started pushing from behind and tried to force the issue. But it was a good and nice race. The car of Team Rosberg was good and competitive.”On Sunday Haase/Frankenhout retired due to damage on the left-hand side of the rear axle. This had been preceded by a collision with the Audi driven by Christopher Mies. "After the safety car period we were only permitted to overtake behind the start-finish line,” reported Haase. "René Rast in the Audi in front of us became very slow. This forced a Corvette behind him to slow down as well. I pulled towards the left. Then the Abt-Audi number one came and touched me at the left rear. Its left side was on the grass. It was only logical that it would spin in that situation. There was simply no room for another car.”
Team director Arno Zensen regretted the incident: "It’s really a shame that our positive weekend didn’t end even better. On Saturday all four drivers drove a great race and delivered a very enjoyable showing. Without the damaged wheel bearing on our car number 8 we could have fought for victory on Sunday. But third and fourth place for the other car is a nice result which the squad and the drivers deserved.” Kenneth Heyer/Michael Ammermüller clinched fourth place on Sunday after having started from ninth place on the grid. "The race was pretty turbulent. Unfortunately, our start wasn’t optimal,” reported Kenneth Heyer, who took over the Audi R8 LMS designated as number 7 during the pit stop. "When an Abt-Audi and a Porsche were entangled in a fight with each other I managed to move two places forwards. After that I overtook another car. I’m pleased with our improvement this weekend and places three and four.” After seven events of the season Team Rosberg concluced the team classification in seventh place in the field of 13 teams with a score of 43 points. Just a week from now the two Audi R8 LMS cars of the team based in Neustadt an der Weinstraße will compete again: the finale of the GT3 European Championship at Zolder (Belgium) will be on their agenda then.
