Frédéric Vervisch Superleague Review

Another win   - Ordos, China. Last weekend,

Frédéric Vervisch won the second race of the Superleague Formula in Ordos, China. At the start of the first race, the Belgian went from 6th to 4th place, but had to retire in the second lap, afterthe engine failed. He couldn’t make the Super Final, but he can look back on yet another successful weekend.

The weekend started off with a ninth and a tenth during the free practice, but after the team changed their setup, things fared better in qualifyingwhere Vervisch proved third fastest of the group. That put him against Franck Perera, a duel he lost for 0,2 seconds. That put him on 6th for race one.

“A disastrous first race”, says Vervisch. “ I had a good start but already in the second corner of the race, the engine blew and I had to abandon.” Th e seconds race went far better. Vervisch managed to move up from 5th to 2nd. By applying constant pressure on leader Andy Soucek, the latter finally made a mistake. Vervisch moved into the e lead and finished 10 seconds ahead of the field.

“Such a pity I am missing out on the Super Final for two points following my abandon from race1”, Vervisch says. “I was right on pace, wentquicker than my teammates and was running as quickly as the leaders.”

For the moment Vervisch stays in China as he will complete the season with the Atech-Reid team. The next event will be the non championship race in the streets of Beijing on October 10th. No points but still a nice sum of prize money to be divided. The Superleague Formula season will close in Spain, at the Navarra track on October 23rd and 24th
