(SPEEDWAY 1)NEWCASTLE star Kenni Larsen scored a 15-point maximum at Birmingham as the Diamonds restricted the Brummies to a four-point lead in the promotion semi-finals.The home side led by ten as the meeting approached the closing stages, but Larsen won three of the last five heats, with reserve Dakota North sharing in two late 5-1s.The Brummies ran out 48-44 winners on the night with the second leg set to take place at Brough Park on Sunday, Newcastle boss George English said: "We restricted our own performance tonight with just one or two of the lads finding the going a little tougher than on our last visit."With the Brummies having a lively Chris Kerr back from injury, and at reserve, plus Aaron Summers also firing on full power once more it was never going to be easy, but to hold them to only four points is still a good result for us."

TELFORD will host the only indoor speedway event in the country this winter- after a two-year absence. The thrills and spills of indoor ice racing, which sees motorbikes with no brakes and spikes in the tyres, returns to Telford Ice Rink on Sunday, February 13.Organisers Graham Drury and Ian Thomas have unveiled plans to revive the famous event which always pulls in bumper crowds with fans travelling from all parts of the country.Drury said: "We've missed the last two winters but at no time have we ever said it was a permanent thing."The ice rink needed to do some work and when fans turn up in February they'll be very impressed by what they see."They have the facilities to have the ice at the perfect temperature for our event and everything about the place is a notch above what it used to be."
(SPEEDWAY 3)PETERBOROUGH have moved to quickly re-arrange their Knockout Cup semi-final clash with Poole for next Monday. The Panthers took an early decision to postpone Thursday's scheduled fixture at the Showground as the circuit was under-water, but they will still stage the first leg with the return at Wimborne Road next Wednesday.Track curator Dean Wyers said of the postponement: "It has been impossible to get any of our equipment onto the track and it will need a couple of dry days to be able to do anything."
(SPEEDWAY 4)SHEFFIELD and Belle Vue will both be major stops on the USA Touring Team's schedule as the clubs remember their former rider Kelly Moran. The American World Cup winner passed away earlier this year, and Sheffield's tribute - where Moran rode between 1989 and 1992 - takes place on Thursday.Tigers boss Neil Machin said: "It will be a USA test team and the only American missing will be Greg Hancock because of his Grand Prix commitments. There will also be a lot of special guests and it should be another great night."Moran moved from Owlerton to Belle Vue in 1989 and rode for the Aces for four seasons, and a Colts team will face the tourists on Monday.Belle Vue co-promoter Chris Morton said: "It was so sad to lose him at such an early age but the memory of him will certainly linger on. I asked his family to give their blessing to us running the meeting as an official tribute and, I am glad to say, they were happy to do so."
