Tim Harvey secured the Porsche Carrera Cup GB title in style in the penultimate race of the season at Brands Hatch yesterday. Tim, sponsored by Nationwide, drove a decisive race coming in second but creating an unbeatable lead between him and the rest of the field ahead of the final race tomorrow.
“This is the culmination of so many people’s hard work: the team, the sponsors and everyone who has supported me this season and I can’t thank them enough,” explained Tim after the race. “I am absolutely delighted and it is our best ever year in the Carrera Cup with more wins than any other team. Winning is the justification of all the effort you put in throughout the year, on and off the circuit, and it really has been a fantastic team, sponsor and driver combination!”
Tim has been sponsored by Nationwide Accident Repair Services plc. since 2007 and Michael Wilmshurst, Chief Executive for Nationwide, was thrilled with Tim’s success today. “We have had a superb season this year and we are very proud of his success. I would like to congratulate Tim, and also send my commiserations to Michael Caine who has been an exceptional competitor, particularly in the second half of the season.
“Tim has led the championship from the start and has demonstrated why he really is one of the best drivers in the UK. But Tim has been outstanding on and off the track; he is tremendously personable and has made the whole team at Nationwide and all our guests feel very welcome throughout the year. This is our fourth season sponsoring Tim and is our most successful. Nationwide is the number one accident repairer in the UK, and we are very proud to sponsor the number one Porsche Carrera Cup driver.”
