Harvey celebrates Porsche Carrera Cup GB title
Tim Harvey said that he has driven better than ever to win the overall title in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and immediately pledged to defend his crown in 2011. Harvey clinched his second Carrera Cup title in the final weekend of the season at Brands Hatch (9/10 October) and finished the season with 11 wins and seven seconds for Red Line Racing."It's been the best year I've had in Carrera Cup in terms of wins and I think my driving has been better than ever," said Harvey. "We have a great working system within the team and very loyal sponsorship and support. I think our sponsors have maximised their involvement in Carrera Cup this year." Harvey says that scoring strong results on the day when things don't go entirely to plan are vital in the course of the 20-race season. "In a level of competition this high, in no campaign can you be faultless all the way through, but when it hasn't been perfect for us at places like Silverstone and Knockhill, we've still managed to get the best result out of it. Those are the days when the championship is won."Harvey acknowledged the strength of challenge from Michael Caine, who scored seven wins on his way to the runner-up position. "Michael has been a worthy adversary all year and we've had to dig deep and come back and find something more," said Harvey. "It's been a really good effort from everyone in the team and it has been very satisfying because of that."Already, Harvey is planning the 2011 season when the latest 911GT3 Cup car is introduced into the Carrera Cup GB. "I'm absolutely going to defend the title. There are always new challenges in Carrera Cup, and with the new car next year there is no doubt that I want to be in one of them. I'm full of anticipation to drive the new car and defend the title with number one on the car. Porsche has been taunting us by parking the new car outside the race centre all year!"
