JASON Doyle scored his first maximum at Elite League level with an unbeaten display in Poole's KO Cup semi-final win over Peterborough.Doyle collected nine (paid 12) from his four rides as the Pirates secured a 58-36 victory at Wimborne Road, having already been seven points up from the first leg. That sets up an all-South Coast Final against Eastbourne, with the Eagles staging the first leg on October 24 and the return back at Poole on the 27th.Doyle said: "It has been a long time coming but I knew I was capable of doing so. I have to admit that my shoulder still gives me some aggravation but it is getting stronger all the time."Perhaps I need to spend a few days on the motocross to strengthen it more - but not before the Final!"NEWCASTLE are through to the Premier League KO Cup Final after making a successful defence of their first-leg lead at Birmingham. The Brummies needed to pull back 23-points for an unlikely aggregate victory and made a good start, being 12-up at the halfway stage, but the Diamonds managed to stop their progress, and the eventual outcome on the night was 50-40.Aaron Summers rounded off the season with a 15-point maximum for Birmingham, whilst Newcastle were indebted to reserve Dakota North with 12 - eight of those at a time when the side were under pressure.Diamonds boss George English said: "We had a really tough match, and some of our lads just struggled. But with Dakota in such superb form he managed to make up for what was lacking elsewhere, and we took the victory that once again was well deserved as we go on to meet Edinburgh in the Final."
GRAND Prix star Hans Andersen is included in a strong line-up for Scunthorpe's Kenny Smith Memorial Trophy on Friday. The Scorpions will honour their former manager, who passed away last year, as well as raising vital funds for the replacement of their air-fence on the first two turns of the circuit.Other top-flight names in the field include Scott Nicholls, Simon Stead, Rory Schlein, Patrick Hougaard and James Wright.Promoter Rob Godfrey said: "Bringing the line-up together has been a nightmare but considering the obstacles we’ve had to overcome I think we’ve done an awesome job. "I know Scott Nicholls isn’t in the Grand Prix anymore but he is fourth in the Elite League averages and with Hans Andersen that gives us two top, top names for Friday. Hans has had all sorts of problems this week so full credit to him for changing his plans to help us."
