BISLEY BACK SIEDERS' HOMETOWN SUPERCAR CIRCUIT

Homebush Olympic Park will play host to the final round of the 2010 Fujitsu V8 Supercars this weekend (3 – 5th December), and with renewed backing, Western Sydneysider Colin Sieders is out for blood.

Sporting a striking new livery on his Ford Performance Built BF Falcon, the 28 year-old Penrith local is set to hit the streets with Bisley Workwear increasing their support of the Sieders Racing Team.

“Last year I was helping out behind the scenes, and it really spurred me on to work at getting on the grid this year” said Sieders, “it’s my local race, so there’ll be a number of friends and family coming down, and I’m just really excited to get back out there.”

“It’s great to bring a new major sponsor to the Series…we’ve formed a really good relationship with the guys from Bisley Workwear since they purchased a few rides that we donated to Careflight last year, and it builds upon their current signage on Dave's [Sieders] V8 Ute that commenced on the Gold Coast.”

In the lead up to the event, Colin Sieders, who is the only disabled V8 Supercar Driver in either category, will be making an appearance at the Concord Donor Centre of the Red Cross Blood Bank on Thursday, 2nd December, to give back to the life-saving organisation.

A passenger in a fatal car accident at the age of 15, Colin received 15 units of blood and 8.5 litres of saline at the scene; spending 51 weeks in hospital, including 88 days of intensive care, three years in a wheelchair and two years of rehabilitation in recovery Colin only has around 30% use of his left leg.

“I literally received twice my original body content at the scene, which is still the most ever transfused outside of a hospital,” said Sieders.

“I really shouldn’t have survived, and if it wasn’t for the work of the Red Cross Blood Bank and Careflight NSW, I would have had no chance, so we like to do what we can to support them back.”

After sitting out of last year’s season Colin has only raced at Townsville earlier this year in July, and had his first test day since 2008 at Wakefield Park last week.

“It was really good to have some track time to actually concentrate on the car and driving it, rather than just showing up for a competition round and being thrown right into the mix.”

“The car felt really good, and it’s a bit more of a confidence boost heading into one of the toughest circuits on the calendar.”

The Fujitsu V8 Supercars will hit the streets for the first time on Friday, 3rd December, for two Practice Sessions (09.00 and 13.30), before Qualifying at 9:05 on Saturday with Race One later that afternoon at 13:00, with the final race for the 2010 Series on Sunday at 12:25.

“Our cars finished sixth and 11th at in this round last year, so I’ll be using those positions as a benchmark,
