Bisley Workwear's Colin Sieders has had to race through the back of the field in the final race of the 2010 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series on the streets of Homebush to be agonisingly close to a Top 10 round finish today (05.12.10).
The 28 year-old from Penrith started today's race in 14th place, and had progressed up to 12th place half way through the double safety-car marred race, before he was turned around at the Turn 2 chicane by Paul Fiore and fought back to finish in 15th. In only his second event this year, Colin equalled the points score (123) of Nathan Vince for the weekend, placing the pair six points shy of the Top 10 for the round, but was officially recorded as 12th after he finished further down the grid in the final race.
"Today was a really good effort by the team," said Sieders, "we came out here chasing a Top 15 finish, and had we finished today's race where we were before I got turned around, we should have been in the Top 10". "We bent the steering when we were turned around at the chicane, so it was a bit of a struggle to finish the race, but I was determined to make it, especially at home."
"After the race, I was surprised the car was as straight as it was, although the front left tyre had been cut pretty bad in the final laps, and was definitely at its limits." "This weekend was fantastic, especially being at home in front of plenty of friends and family," said Sieders, "the support from Bisley Workwear this weekend has been great, and we couldn't have got out here without their support".
As Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series wraps up for the year, Sieders is not planning to take things too easy as he works on getting commitments locked away for next year. "After sitting out most of the last two years, I definitely don't want to do it again," said Sieders, "I love racing, and we're currently working on a few deals that will hopefully give us a pretty good idea of what's in store for next year".
