(SPEEDWAY 1) BIRMINGHAM boss Graham Drury says his club and King's Lynn have the opportunity to lay down a marker to clubs with ambitions to step up to the Elite League. The Brummies and the Stars will take their place in a new-look top flight in 2011 and Drury says success for them would encourage others for the future. He said: "In Birmingham and King's Lynn the Elite League now has two of the best tracks in the country and there are other Premier League tracks and venues which should be in the top division. "It's a fantastic challenge and the response from the fans has been amazing. The local interest from the media has been terrific too and we are very proud to be on Sky for the first Elite League meeting of the season." (SPEEDWAY 2) SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey is pressing ahead with plans to run the Christmas Cracker meeting on December 27. The Scorpions' circuit has been under a covering of snow during the recent cold spell, but Godfrey is optimistic about the event's prospects. He said: "There will be plenty of work to do before it can be raced on but if we're given a spell of half-decent weather we'll be okay. Obviously the sooner that spell comes the better. "With the uncertainty we've decided to go back to Plan A and have an individual meeting. It will be a 1pm start, fifteen races and our normal admission prices. "We don't want to draw things out too long with twenty or more races but just give fans some fresh air after the Christmas festivities and provide them with some excellent racing action after two months without any."
