Nationwide Accident Repair Services has announced that Tim Harvey will be defending his 2010 title in the eagerly awaited 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship, with the UK’s largest fixed-site and mobile vehicle body repairer firmly supporting him as headline sponsor.
The Porsche Carrera Cup GB is the epitome of British motor-racing and attracts teams, drivers, supporters and sponsorship from across Europe. Tim will be returning to the track in April with a large number ‘1’ on the side of a stunning new 911 GT3 Cup car, to take his place alongside a full complement of 31 drivers who will all have their sights set on this prestigious title. The 2011 season is set to be a high-point of the motor-racing calendar, as the series is already sold out with an extended grid of 32 cars. New teams and drivers have eagerly signed up to test their skills on the famous BTCC circuits.
Michael Wilmshurst, Chief Executive of Nationwide, is looking forward to seeing the eye-catching orange and blue Nationwide car lined up on the grid for the first race at Brands Hatch. “Nationwide is the largest dedicated vehicle repairer in the UK and we pride ourselves on leading the field in terms of service, speed, technology and innovation – and this is why we are delighted to be associated with the prestigious Porsche Carrera Cup series.
“Nationwide has supported Tim for many years because we believe he is the best in his field. He has impressed us with his skill, ambition, professionalism and drive. He just keeps on winning. There are nearly 2500 team members at Nationwide, many of whom are now firm fans of Tim and the Porsche Carrera Cup, and they will all have the opportunity to cheer Tim from the grandstand during the season. We see this as an excellent way to celebrate our successes with our team, our customers and our guests.
“My only prerequisite for Tim this year is that we do get some proof of the military-style endurance training he has assured me that he is participating in for his pre-season preparation!”
“I am absolutely delighted to retain Nationwide as my headline sponsor for 2011,” explained Tim. “To carry their name and the number one on the car will give me immense pride. 2010 was my best year in the Carrera Cup and I am improving all the time. This winter I have been preparing harder than ever and will be in the best possible shape for the start of a season…I may even go to the gym at some point!”
Porsche GB has introduced a new 911 GT3 Cup car for the 2011 season which offers more power, greater downforce, plus a host of other improvements – all of which should add to the race excitement
