Gerard Barrabeig, who will debut this year in the single-seaters, was at Imola for another test session at the wheel of the BVM Target’s Formula Abarth car last Tuesday and Wednesday.
The sixteen years old driver continued his adaptation to the Tatuus FPT, but had some problems in the first day, amplified by the track traffic and by his lack of knowledge of the circuit’s lay-out. First, with a light off track excursion and, after, with a problem in his engine that prevented him of completing more than sixty laps. “It wasn’t a good day. I had to learn the circuit and the engine was lacking in power. With this hard begin our work during the night was focused in having a good car for the next day”, explained Gerard Barrabeig.
In the second day, the youngster from Espluga de Francolí had a much better journey of work, which left him with a positive frame of mind. “We didn’t have reliable data from the day before and we had to start almost from a white sheet, after fixing the car’s mechanical problems. As in the previous day, the track traffic was very intense and was very hard to find a clear lap, which prevented me from taking the maximum potential from the new tyres. Technically, this circuit is very difficult for the driver, but I enjoy it very much”, said Gerard Barrabeig.
In the end, the promising youngster was among the fastest of a strong field, and is looking forward for the next test session, when he expects “to proceed my evolution as a single-
