Sieders to get Job Done at season opener

Colin Sieders will line up in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series season opener for the first time in three years this weekend (17-20th March), thanks to a renewed naming rights partnership.

With only two appearances in the Fujitsu V8 Supercars last year, 29 year-old Penrith resident, Colin Sieders, has extended his 2010 partnership arrangement with Bisley Workwear, which will see him compete on the streets of Adelaide for the first time since 2008.

“I haven’t had the privilege of competing in the season opener for a few years, so I’m keen to just get back on the track” said Sieders, “I reckon Adelaide is probably the best street circuit in Australia”.

“It’s an awesome track; most street circuits are so tight and narrow, and, whilst there is of course that element in the track, Adelaide is quite open and fast.”

“It’s also fantastic to have Bisley on board again. I’ll definitely be looking to most of it, and hopefully get some great results to start our 2011 partnership.”

Originally entering the motorsport arena through the Sieders Racing Team in 2009, the team was happy to reveal its 2011 partnership with Bisley Workwear, which will see the striking navy and yellow livery, as seen at Homebush last year, at three marquee events in 2011.

“Our relationship with Bisley started through our involvement with Careflight NSW at the end of 2009,” said Sieders, “our new arrangement will see a full Bisley Supercar at Adelaide, Bathurst and Homebush this year, as well as taking signage on our V8 Ute [driven by Colin’s brother David]”.

“With their support of Kelly Racing in the V8 Supercar Championship, Bisley are making a real mark on motorsport at the moment, and it’s great to have both David [Sieders] and myself as part of their motorsport programme”.

Despite a lot of media attention on the increased number of V8 Supercar Championship teams getting involved with the Development Series, Colin is not phased by their participation.

“There may be more support and entries from the ‘main game’ this season than last, but there’s always been half a dozen drivers who are extremely competitive at the front,” said Sieders, “we have a really good Top 15 car, and I still think we’ll be close to the Top 10 like we have at the last couple of rounds”.

“The important thing about this category is staying clean, and avoiding other’s incidents...we see it all too often, that more competitiveness at the front often results in first turn crashes, and those ‘gun’ drivers often fall to the back of the field or don’t even finish the race.”

From Colin’s point of view, a return to the Adelaide street circuit is long overdue, and he is excited about getting back to the track that holds some of his first racing milestones.

“For me, Adelaide is probably one of my most successful track to race at,” said Sieders, “it was where I got my first ever race win, back in 2004 in the Aussie Racing Cars, and I also set the race lap record on that track for the Aussie Racing Cars in 2005”.

“Last time I raced at Adelaide I was in the AU, so it’ll be interesting to see how this car goes.”

The Fujitsu V8 Supercars will hit the Adealide Street Circuit for the first time this year tomorrow for Practice, with Qualifying and Race One on Friday, and finishing the opening round on Saturday with Race 2.

“We didn’t have an opportunity to test before this round, but the car’s been competitive in the last couple of outings, so it should be a good weekend...Although I’d love to get more track time after all these years.”
